Fiction Writing Contest Information

Thanks for your interest in The Shadowvane Podcast’s first ever writing contest!  We are here to entertain you, the fans, and we want to offer every opportunity to get you involved as possible.

For our first of many contests, we’re putting out the challenge of writing a piece of horror, science fiction, and/or suspense to all our listeners.  It doesn’t matter if you’re an avid writer or never penned a story before; we encourage you all to give it a shot!

Below you will find the contest rules, prizes, and submission deadline.

Contest Rules:

  • Your story must fit the genres suited to our program.  This includes horror, science fiction, and/or suspense.  Any story outside these genres may not be considered for the contest.
  • You may submit either a short story or a radio drama script for this contest.  We may allow other forms of writing, such as poetry, in future contests.
  • An average episode script runs around 3,000 words.  Thus, your work must not exceed 4,000 typed words.  Any stories longer than this may not be considered for the contest.
  • A person may only enter one story or script to be considered for the contest.
  • Submit your story to our e-mail address:  shadowvanecast@gmail.com.  You can attach a Word document, a link to a Google Doc, or copy and paste the story into the e-mail.  Please keep in mind that copying and pasting the story may mess with the formatting of your story.

Contest Prizes:

First Place:  Your story/script will be featured on a future episode of The Shadowvane Podcast and read by one of our voice actors.  You will also receive a first place certificate, a free Shadowvane Podcast t-shirt and a copy of one of our episode scripts signed by the writer, Andrew Lister.
